1/4 = 3 - (2x - 1) / (x + 2)
x + 2 = (3)(4)(x + 2) - 4(2x - 1)
x + 2 = 12x + 24 - 8x + 4
x + 2 = 4x + 28
- 26 = 3x
x = - 26 / 3

Move the three to the LHS.
1/4 -3 = -(2x-1)/(x+2)
collect terms on lhs
-11/4 = -(2x-1)/(x+2)
Eliminate Fractions
-11(x+2) = -4(2x-1)
Expand
-11x-22 =-8x +4
collect x's on left, constants on right.
-11x + 8x = 22 + 4
-3 x = 26
x = -26/3
x = - 8 2/3

Check answer by substituting x = -8.66666 (done off camera) It is indeed correct.

The solution for 1/4=3-((2x-1)/(x+2)) goes as follows:
(1/4)-3=-(2x-1)/(x+2)
-11/4=-(2x-1)/(x+2)
11/4*(x+2)=2x-1
(11/4)x+11/2+1=2x
13/2=(8/4)x-x(11/4)=-(3/4)x
x=-(13/2)/(3/4)=-(13/2)*(4/3)=-26/3=-8.666...=-(8 and 2/3)
