Rape
Written by Semper Fi Reborn
He sat there in the dark,
Like a demon filled soul.
Thoughts of violence and lust,
To overpower his goal.
He knew he was wrong,
He didn't try to get right.
So he searched for a victim,
Out enjoying her night.
He pounced on her quick,
She had no chance to scream.
What school of behaviors,
Could create such a fiend?
Who uses his sex,
As a weapon of pain?
And gives not a thought,
That she won't be the same!
Her innocent world,
In one night is destroyed.
She's questioned by cops,
Who themselves seem annoyed.
They forget for a moment,
Her world had no hope!
They forget that an animal,
Held a knife to her throat.
Instead of searching,
To even the score.
They bombarded her with questions,
About what she had wore.
She wanted to be invisible,
Just so she could escape!
Then strongly she said,
I'M THE VICTIM OF RAPE!!

hghostinme, if you are not a victim, then how do you speak for them? I write what God instructs me to. Many of the victims have given me the green light to write this. Who are you to deny them closure? Go therefore in peace.

I was a victim of date rape and so were three of my girlfriends. Thank you for seeing us and the sadness that we share.
God is a wonderful, healing,ad loving God. He has given you a gift. Praise God for Salvation.
Even the worst sin in our eyes is still forgivable by the loving Savior we serve.
God Bless you Semper Fi
I thank God for your Salvation.

This is a good poem. The first poem I published was for a victim of child abuse. There is a need for someone who understands that the pain reaches deep within, but the victims are unable to let that pain out unless there is an outlet to allow them to release the inner demons. Thank you for your poem.

Semper....you just poetically wrote the feelings I have had to cope and deal with for over twenty years now! Yes, I am that victim.
As a Christian woman, I can tell you that the only way for me to cope and deal with this was to beg God, in prayer, for healing. I knew I could never forgive and that was a huge burden to carry, at that time! I did not seek revenge, no thoughts of revenge as rape takes more from you than anyone who has not been there, could ever possibly imagine! I felt, afraid, all the time. That violent act, took my world from me for a period of time! I finished my last semester at college....walking with my back against walls....too afraid to let people walk behind me! My thoughts seemed to be consumed and yet, I did everything I could to keep my thoughts off of that day!
Finally, I was alone, at home, one day and I could not get the thoughts to stay away! I scrubbed, turned on the radio and on and on! Nothing, but anger and fear were in my thoughts. That is when I decided that I had to give it ALL to Jesus! I could NOT carry this shame and anger with me. The shame was not mine to carry and the anger had grown! I cried out to God from the very core, of my soul! I'm not sure how long I was crying out to Him but, I know I was exhausted when I finished! I begged for the ability to forgive this man and to take away shame that was not mine, to carry. I was crying so hard and yet, among all that pain, hurt and anger, I began to feel God's peace come over me.
Since that day, many years ago, I have been set free from being a victim of rape! I am an overcomer, through Jesus Christ and His merciful love for me and for all! I do not hate these two men and I forgive them.... Thank You, Sweet Jesus.

You've captured the mentality of "blaming the victim for the crime" that so often happens after a rape. Well said, my friend.
Edit:
Thanks to the mercy of our Lord, I was never a victim of rape. But a family member and several close friends were, and after listening to them talk about their pain and suffering, I can tell you that this poem is spot on when it describes how many victims feel afterwards.
Again, job well done, Semper Fi.

Thank you, sweetheart, for your SENSITIVITY! Thank you for you continuing thoughtfulness, and shall the Lord bless the fruit of your poetic talents. Thank you not for the sake of women reading this, but just to show not all men are mean and heartless. You have proven you are a good man, a real one! Your wife is very blessed to have you.
I have been a victim of rape before, by two guys I knew. One was a platonic friend who wanted more. Another, was 16 0r 17. I have been fortunate to be able to forgive and move on eventually, but I just wish guys would stop and think how it affects women to rape them, or even pressure them into having sex because they refuse to wait for the woman to be ready. They let sexual urges control them instead controlling it. And sexually urges, both men and women can find ways to control them if they wanted to bad enough.
I even had guys where they made me feel as if it was my fault for being raped, that a woman can EASILY stop a man from raping. Men are physically stronger; it takes martial arts or something drastic to protect themselves from a rapist. But clearly you understand!
It would help if pornography, even if it's just simply women posing nude, to be outlawed! And if we were treated as the equal instead of the inferior gender.
