"It was destiny" or "It was meant to be" or "The stars aligned to create the situation where we could meet".

In other words, no matter what you did to avoid the being brought together, it would still happen. Generally, it's connotation is a good thing.

A totally unplanned or unforeseen meeting between people that results in a deeper relationship in future between them. Usually this would be a happy event, but sometimes it does not! The chance meeting is attributed to fate or destiny, not to any personal human activity.

It means that two people who met eachother seemed as if they were meant for eachother because their personalities match so well. it has nothing to do with fate, but rather with the fact that two people are virtually meant for eachother.
