i m not egyptian, but i like the egypt section because of the wonderful people it has..
Also, a compatriot of mine from Greece has answered above..
Now to answer to your question, it doesnt make any difference to me.It depends who is offering it, and if he has the possibility to do it.I usually, dont accept very expensive things...
If this person means something to me and certainly he has the possibility to do it it is ok...even if as i said doesnt say so much to me...
But a weird man, who ll try to offer it, with other purposes, in order to offend my dignity as a woman, since he wouldnt be something for me...i wouldnt accept not only an expensive gift, but not even a flower...
It is based on the feeling, and ont eh relation you have with someone...
Then it is up to the other to offer what he can...
Greetings from Greece

Bossy ya rana ... gold may be out now and it's considered "classier" to get diamonds. However, believe me, diamonds are hardly ever worn except on formal occasions kol 100 sana mara. Personally I don't like either gold or diamonds, but I do wear gold more often. The only diamond thing I wear from my shabka is the ma7bas. The ring and bracelet are in the box in the closet feeling sad and lonely! lol Malkeesh da3wa what others say, get what you like and want. It's your time to be happy, enjoy it as best as you can.

I personally wanted silver by Azza Fahmy! looooool Crazy huh?!

Farah...this is getting freaky!! I'm not crazy about gold or diamonds, either...the only jewelry I wear (earrings and a couple of rings) are made from silver, too! I like it so much better.

Now about your question, Ranoush...since I don't really care too much about diamonds, I guess I would say I would rather recieve the set...more to choose from when you feel like getting all "blinged" up.

(I hope that that term - bling- is understandable in Egypt...lol)

If this question means that we will hear good news soon, then congratulations to our sister Rana. To answer the question, a diamond ring is better, gold can be bought any time later on occasions or if you like to buy it for yourself. but a diamond ring is bought only on these occasions.

According to Egyptian standards nowadays the gold set is considered tacky. The classy thing to get would be the diamond ring and another one with fewer diamonds 'ma7bas'.

I personally dont give a rat's butt.

None of those. My wedding ring is silver because i like silver.
P.S. you can't buy love with diamond. For me love and trust is my diamonds and gold.

I would prefer the gold set because they're more than just one ring and their value increases in case u sell them back, but if u sell a diamoned ring back u will lose abt half of its price. well, of course, what matters most, is who gives u this shabka ;) I will never sell mine isa, but I still like being practical

llloool@ redwine, waksa lih bas keda!! heeheh

the threat is often there. if a guy needs to flow away his female he will flow away her at any degree "engagement, wedding ceremony, even after having little ones" and in all situations the wear is extensive. the risk-free practices comes from working no longer elementary to maintain the guy wanting you, and this works the two techniques, a woman might flow away a guy and reason him emotional harm at any time, hence a guy might desire to do his proper to maintain his female satisfied. that's not a one shot deal that's similar to a hire in case you elect to maintain some thing you will possibly desire to pay the hire as fastened by using its landlord.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend ......lol

Honestly, i don't even wear it anymore, except on formal occasions. Actually i don't even wear a wedding ring, strange enough as that may seem, but, i don't think it is that important anymore....... at least to me.
