Good Question. Remember that you may not necesarily know where the firm is heading, nor the goal of your organization.
Should your real goal be change management, team dissolution and loss of productivity before amalgamation with another company, having the freeloader in there essentially guarrantees success. Therefore the office psychopath is essential.
