God Yes they were the size of a house brick
My first one had a handset connected to this brick with an Aeriel sticking out the top
it cost me £650

My first phone was a Bosch 509e it had a translucent orange front though there were ones that a clear front all it did was made & Received phone calls had a few ring tunes, a calculator and the battery lasted a day if you were lucky

Yep - it was a Motorola brick!!! Huge battery pack and very little battery life - my hubby worked on the very first mobile BTS installations in the UK and we both had phones !

yup my first one was a motorola, it was huge and only had 10 ringtones, it could only hold 10 sms messages amd everyone i know had the same one and we were all one2one (now t-mobile)

Yes I remember.It was very big like a box with chocolate,but more fat.It had a big antenna.People were held it on their belts like a police station.

are you talking farther back than the Bag phone?? I know there was this one called the simon phone..it was crazy and they were expensive.

Yes, they were like bricks. My boss's father still owns one, how funny, ok, he's about 70 but still...!!!
