Vista is a tad slow because it is so darn big.
I think you mean you have 60GB of hard disk space.
Your laptop must have come with a User's Guide. It is probably on the CD. Suggest you copy it and put it on your desktop. You will find it comes in handy.
After you open the User's Guide, somewhere should be listed the specifications of your laptop. This will tell you how much RAM (memory) you have. Unless you paid megabucks, you probably have 1G, 2G if you're lucky.
There are some simple things you can do for yourself to make your computer faster - they involved keeping memory free, and your files organized.
You can free up memory by:
removing wallpaper and screensavers
don't load anything you don't need as soon as you power on
about every 2 weeks, run a scandisk, Disk Cleanup, and a defrag.
You'll be surprised at what this will do.

I agree, Vista is a memory killer.
If you purchased your laptop with Vista pre-installed, you should have at least 1GB RAM, better 2GB Ram (memory).
If you have upgraded your laptop from XP to Vista, you definitely should have upgraded memory as well.
Make sure you run a cleaning program every now and then, like CCleaner or EasyCleaner (free download @ PCworld)
