How did the Sicilian (Vizzini) grow up?
Is that even talked about at all?

I don't think so. During the pursuit of the kidnappers by the Man in Black, there are background stories inserted for Inigo and Fezzik, but there's nothing like that for Vizzini.

Vizzini is not anywhere near as major a character as the other two, of course. He's eliminated, whereas the other two return from their defeat and become important contributors to the rest of the story.
