Hi all

It is my first winter in Canada, and I feel already so cold.

Today, I was so sleepy and hard to move because of coldness.

Especially my thigh is unbelievably cold.
It is completely different from ordinary sleepiness or tiredness.
I suppose it is like a hibernation or something...

Do you know any good tips for it?
I think especially Immigrated Canadian must have lots a lot of wisdom how to survive the winter lively.

I already wear so much like a full winter version,
and I take VitaminD a lot.
My home is a bit far from bus stop, so I'll move out 2weeks later.

A little sunlight and movement will help. Often after I finish doing a bunch of chores, I find I'm almost too hot.

You do need to keep warm. Layer on clothing such as long johns. And this might sound a bit odd- but try keeping your head and neck covered. The body loses a lot of heat through the head, after all. And if you haven't already, get some warm wool socks.

Also, try drinking hot things.

Good luck!

I know how awful that is, feeling so cold that you just want to curl up and not move for 5-6 months until it's warm out again. But the best thing to do is to layer your clothes and move around. Put on good-quality warm clothes (long underwear, thick or layered socks, warm slippers, layered shirts, sweatshirts/sweaters, etc.), and do stuff around the house. Get some exercise or dance videos, and even if you do 5-10 minutes at a time, it'll warm you up for a while & keep you fit during the winter. Drink warm liquids and eat warm foods to heat you up from the inside.

When you go outdoors, always wear gloves, and wear a coat that covers your legs at least down to your knees so your thighs don't freeze. A headband, a hat, or a hood that will cover your ears is also a good idea.

Keep slippers and a blanket handy for when you are more stationary, like when you watch tv or use the computer.

Well summer's just begun in my part of the world so I've just recently come out of hibernation! Oh wait. That's wrong. I'm actually still hibernating... I have a nasty cold and am reduced to slouching around the house and hanging around on yahoo answers. Ugh.

Well I'm so sorry for you. I have lived in cold in the hills of England for 12 years but never again. I'm sorry to boast a little but Australia is now my home but sometimes it can get to hot. What worked for me in England was Not to many clothes they weigh you down but you must have the correct sort of clothes ie Thermal underwear a thick mountain jacket fleecy trousers thermal socks gloves and hat. And when you have had your sleep in a warm room get out for a brisk walk. that does wonders and gets the blood circulating. Nice hot soups with plenty of vegetables in would help also. good luck

Need sunshine. If possible sit in front of a window with the sun coming in. If not available, get into well lighted areas. As far as being cold, leggings and a small cap will make a lot of difference in regulating body warmth.

Maybe get a pet. Having something to take on a walk will motivate you no matter what the weather and when you feel like hibernating, seeing a pet curled up makes you feel more like doing something.
