Ok, well, everyone knows that christmas is in like...3 or so weeks, is it bad that im not looking forward to it like i used to? im starting to think that my parents ruin it b/c they get so aggrivated and they complain about how they have no money, so at time i just wish i could tell them to just forget about christmas so they would stop complaing. is that bad that i dont even look forward to christmas anymore?

no. You are a good kid. Your parents should be ashamed of themselves. You should remind them that there are kids who aren't getting anything this Christmas.
You should also suggest that maybe they just get each person 1 gift now & 1 at tax return time.
They have lost their way. Christmas is about giving. Not about $$. We have no $$ & we will not be exchanging gifts at all. We will still sit around the tree- if we can even get 1 & sing. In January when my student loan comes through, I will take my son to a toy store for a few things.

These are difficult economic times for a lot of families, and if your parents are stressed it's likely because they feel badly that they can't give you the Christmas they'd like to while still holding down the day-to-day responsibilities. Try to look at it from their point of view for a moment and realize how helpless and hopeless a feeling that is. Whether your feelings are good or bad is a matter for you to decide...I can say that it is at least understandable. Maybe it will help you all to remember the real reason for the season in the first place: Christmas is the celebrated birth date of Jesus, and is a time for reflections on love, family, and togetherness. That costs very little...just your time. Good luck, and Merry Christmas!

The thing is having a fun Christmas costs money..you have to buy presents and put up lights and stuff. It can get a little frustrating to work under a budget.
Nevertheless there's such a thing as Christmas spirit. Don't let the bad things weigh you down. Maybe what you can do is take this opportunity to find out what Christmas really means to your family (is it the presents and the material stuff or is it something else?) and adjust where necessary.
Merry Christmas! =)

if money is truly an issue step up and tell them that you as a family will skip gifts this year or limit to a certain small dollar amount - tell them you don't want to hear them complaining nor do you want them to feel bad about about not having enough money - put your heads together and come up with another way to celebrate - focus on the togetherness of the holiday - the spirit of goddwill - prepare a really yummy meal together and exchange 'promise' notes' - something you'll each do for each other - or do a 'secret santa' where you each buy one gift and you each receive one gift. There are many many people who feel the financial strain of the holidays - clear the air!

I don't know if it is a bad thing. Christmas has become so commercial. There is not religion, love, all that old stuff anymore. I feel the same way you do. I am disappointed that my grandson is with me through December because now I have to do the tree thing and everything. I didn't even want to bother. Family has destroyed this holiday for me, too. It's all in the past, but without good memories, how are we supposed to continue the tradition?

Didn't your parents ever tell you that Christmas isn't about the presents, it's about spending time with your family? A lot of people are forgetting that. Make it your goal to make your family's christmas this year about being together rather than giving and getting gifts.

Not really. I have family issues at this time of year too. I usually work to avoid it all. The past few years I have sent emails to my family advising them not to get me anything for Christmas due to financial problems on my end. They've been very understanding and it has made life much easier for all. Good Luck

Try and understand that the parents want you to be happy as always at x'mas
its this feeling that should be igniting the need of money in them
but oh my
convince them , rather than running away ,
that its the togetherness that brings in happiness rather than the money invested , Be Happy let Jesus bless u r family
