There is nothing offensive about your question in the least. It is a very valid and poignant question in today's world. That being said ...

Women have not truly achieved equality in the least. Yes ~ we have come a long way, but there is still so much sexism in the world today. Ouchie above made some good points. As long as women allow themselves to be degraded by sexual exploitation ... paid less than a man for the same job (and this still happens frequently) ... be penalized for wanting to be independent ... and "playing dumb" for fear of offending or chasing off a man ... we will never be truly equal.

The other piece of the puzzle is that there is nothing wrong with treating a woman with respect or decency. One of the answers above says that she doesn't believe in equality because she "likes" a man to open doors for her ... etc. There is nothing about respect that is sexist. There is a big difference between being polite and opening a door for me ... then being afraid of me because I can carry on an intelligent conversation. If anything men should be more appreciative of intelligent conversation than a woman's breast size. When you're older and those same breasts aren't quite so perky ... conversation will be MUCH more important in a relationship.

You are exactly right in your thinking and are such a smart young man for your age. At least it is true that not all men have a problem with equality between the sexes. That is a good thing and hopefully there will continue to be more and more men changing their old fashioned ways of thinking as women prove they deserve the respect of equality.

Peace to you ...

Equal pay has been achieved, though you can't say anything, or government money will stop flowing to certain feminist causes. StatsCan shows that women between 25-40 with university degrees earn $1.01 compared to their male counterparts. Maybe it is time males started to demand pay equality. Remember, a large number of baby boomers will be retiring in the next 10 years, taking their fat salaries out of the picture. This will have a huge impact on the perceived wage gap, and actually show that women are making more money than men doing the same job. You need to compare apples to apples, and a bunch of CEO's who make more in 10 minutes than the average man makes all year, really drives the perceived gap up. To be a COE is a lifestyle choice. You don't get to see your family. You work 80 hours a week. You are in board (bored) meetings all day long. Your only "friends" are the other CEO's you deal with. Does this sound like an attractive lifestyle for a woman? Heck, it is not an attractive lifestyle for 99% of the male population. So, to have 50% of the CEO's being female may sound like a wonderful level of equality, but in fact you are selling the lives of these poor women for a statistic.

We are all equal, but women have not achieved equality yet. Acknowledging equality is one thing, but acting as a society in accordance with the beliefs expressed by the majority or through legal recognition of what is right or fair is quite a different matter. It is for this reason that women, having come a long way but not all the way, must remain vigilent and remain advocates for true equality. Many men have joined us in this quest, but patriarchy and chauvanism have not been eradicated and may never be in our life times. Act in accordance with your belief, try to ensure that belief is well informed, support others that share your belief, and you're well on your way to doing your part.

I think women have reached a point where they are equal to the extreme. It is politicaly correct for women to be given equal oppurtunites to men, but some people take this so far that men are now given less chances then women. However, some still think that women are only good for one thing. Equality has not really been reached, but it is closer then it has ever been before.

In societies perspective, no I do not. In my mind I think so, but I supposed I'm biased because I am a woman. On television it is ok to show a naked woman, but not a naked man. In music...especially rap, women are degraded. So, sadly I think women are put on a lower level. We are considered the sexual and weak species sometimes. We are looked at objects at times. It's hard to fathom for some that a woman can be pretty and intelligent. I have to add too that some women play up their sexuality and act stupid for I don't know what reason. And that makes disrespect of women continue as well.

Honey we are all equal in God's eyes, but we males and females can never be equal......men are like little babies, when they are sick, we women have to baby them, but if we get sick, we still have to get out of bed, and feed our men...and as for having a baby, there is no way a man could do that, they would be crying every day of there life about how much pain they were in, and they would be so proud of the fact that life grew inside their body, but only women can carry a child and go through the pain of childbirth...so as far a equality...the men just have to step back..I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR

No offence taken =~)
It has been a long struggle for women to be as equal to men.
We have not reached it yet but we have come so far compared to how it used to be.
I dont think we will ever be treated as an equal for eg
Black/White racism it still happens now, it should not happen but it does.

Not yet we are still treated as less equals compared to men but we have indeed come a long way...

I think that we are equal. If anything, men get the shorter end of the stick, now.

Wow, my opinion seems to differ from everyone elses. I don't understand where they are coming from.

I say this thinking about countries like Canada, US, and UK.

That will never happen so long as women are able to have children. And I don't think that is such a bad thing. I for one do not want equality, I like a guy to open a door for me etc etc.
