hi. i live in manchester so let me see if i can help

manchester is amazing! most shops will be open sunday til around 5 or 6pm.

when you walk out of main door of jarvis hotel, cross road and turn right. walk for 100 yards then turn left down chorlton street (signposted for coach station) walk down chorlton street = canal street! youll be there in 5 minutes

gmex is slightly further but easily walkable. but if you prefer, catch altrincham tram from piccadilly to gmex = 2 minute ride!

gmex is near bridgewater hall and manchester central library, if that helps

Many city centre shops are close in Manchester on Sundays. Canal Street is the centre of the 'Gay Village so if easily offended keep away. The Piccadilly Hotel is in the centre of Manchester. If you come out of the front entrance, turn left and left again you will be on Mosley Street. That leads directly to the GMex centre and is about ten minutes walk. If you take the same route you will meet Princess Street after five minutes. Turn left and walk about two hundred yards and there is Canal Street. Enjoy your stay.

I would imagine at this time of the year the shops will be mostly open, Canal St is less than half a mile from the hotel. Gmex is less than a mile from the hotel too. hope this helps
