The sugar subsidies have been recended for about a year and the sugar market is completely open now.

The wording of the document is inflammatory. It is not some evil plot to keep third world countries in poverty. Granted it caused a problem which should have been rectified, but its original intent was to protect domestic producers. In Ireland, Greencore, the monopolist of sugar in Ireland was a cooperative of Irish Sugar beet farmers not a corporate beast. And these farmers are small as are all Irish farmers.

I make no excuses for the subsidies but saying that it put many people out of work and pushed the farmers into an already competive crop market.

Oh and anyone truely studied the EU they would find it the antithesis of a socialist country. They are constantly trying to break national business monopolies like energy in France.

Because the EU is a capitalistic club just like the United States. It are socialists who try and work hard to change that. Blaming this on socialism is another great lie we've come to expect from the American right. Socialists actively work together with organizations such as Oxfam and are big supporters of fair trade. This oppression like so many is in the name of the "free" market. Make no mistake about it

be careful of those who wish to destroy tarrifs and subsidies as a rule - they may be working for the NWO agenda which wants to do this to undermine food security and to monopolize food production and distribution.

The US has allowed itself to be sold into this "free-market" dogma and consequently make have huge difficulties in supply in the case of a major economic downturn - if not a complete meltdown- which is on the horizon .
