when a people of a seperate culture are absorbed by a larger culture till they resemble the majority and lose their specifc traits that set them apart.

The best example is the United States....a country made up of Germans, Italians, Africans, Irishmen.....and a zillion other cultures.......that are not today Irish or Italian but now Irish-American or Italian-American or Black-Americans.......or more simply, just Americans...we all speak English, watch the same TV shows, love football, don't care about soccer......we remember where our ancestors came from but have little in common with those nations and cultures anymore....as a grate example, Irish Catholics and Protestants have been killing each other for 1,000 years...Irish Americans, Catholic or Protestant, cant understand that and dont kill each other becasue they are AMERICANS now, not Irsh.....
