Can you please give me 5 examples of private limited companies and 5 examples of public limited companies?

It sounds like you are in the UK, because we don't use the term "limited" much here in the US.

Public Limited companies:
British Airways, BP, Ford, General Motors, Exxon/Mobil, IBM.

Private limited companies:
Think of five local businesses that have not sold stock to the public. The local pub, the local restaurant, the local laundry, etc. Most small and medium sized businesses are privately held, not having sold stock to the public.
