The US is the strongest. But the UK is the second strongest. And the UK gave us Rock n' Roll as someone mentioned earlier.

But the US is stronger because it has a stronger and larger military. The US is also a very large country with more natural resources. But that doean't mean that the UK isn't near just as powerful.

And for the record China will not come near either the US or the UK. They depend too much on the rest of the world to hold up their economy (in response to the first answer.)

The USA is obviously the more powerful nation, it is more wealthy, has more say on the world stage, has more military force and this has been the case for many years, the UK does not compare in any way, I am British and I am really glad that the USA is a friendly nation and are our allies.

US is economically and militarily the more powerful. We also have larger base population and (somewhat slipping) tradition of creative power. The UK has the commonwealth (which may make them the more populous), has ties with the EU, and probably (yea, like way likely) has more educated people on the average. I'm for my own country but pro-Europe as well. In spite of the squabbles, we value our allies in Europe and they are surely aware of Russia.

United States Of America is the sole superpower in the world.
America continues to excert military, economic, and political influence around the world. With a GDP of 13 trillion dollars, spends more money on the military than every country in the world, largest nuclear stockpile of war heads... America is a force to be reckoned with

This American thinks both. Both have their same problems... immigration , for example, but they also have their individual strengths. The UK has a long and glorious history. Every American would love to visit there because so many of us have roots there. The Brits and the Yanks like to quibble here on this forum, but when it comes down to it, we always have each other's backs. I would hate to leave my own country, but if I had to, I would go to the UK.

Does it really matter?, shouldn't we be asking which countries aid others in time of need, and maybe why those that do are looked on by others as fools and treated with disdain and deserving of being taken for granted for it. The US has the largest and most powerful military ( for now ).

I'm from the UK and I must admit... the USA is MUCH more powerful than the UK. The USA's military is immense compared to that of the UK. The UK has done well with its limited size and resources, but the USA is the world's only current superpower.

Which one has more nuclear warheads, and missiles to deliver them? The world needs to be thankful that America *still* is a benign nation, in terms of the actual power it can wield.

Now if we can just see that Warmonger-in-Thief in the White House finish his term before he does us any MORE damage in the eyes of the whole world...

To "Josephrob2003" -- As an American, I'd give your answer 5 thumb's-ups if I could! You are spot on!

they don't compete for power, they combine it:British brains, American muscle. They are currently the only effective "global alliance" as Russia and China have too big problems within their own borders and other European countries do not use their military.
