the thing about Lupe Fiasco...?

A lot of people wonder what I have against Lupe, people think I hate without reason but I have many reasons.
first off, as a practicing Muslim, i feel Lupe "flaunts" the religion like a complete douchebag. Dudes like QTip, Ghostface, Sean P are all Muslims (not 5%), but they dont make it everything that they are about. Lupe made a song called Muhammad Walks, where he 'explained' the religion. Thats like a rapper making a song about the The Nativity of Jesus, where he doesn't talk about anything relevant or personal, just what the religion is. Its some real Charlie Check;em type ish. To me, it seems like he is using his religion as a way to get all his hipster friends to say, "Yo you're a muslim. You seem 'exotic' and dangerous to me. that makes up for the fact that you're a pussyface." To me, religion is a personal thing, not something you use to showcase where you fit in among other people. What makes this even worse are fans who say things like

The second thing is the whole midnight marauders thing,If you dont know about this, someone asked him in an interview if he ever heard MM, and he said no, and he never will. its one thing to never have heard the album, but to say that you purposely will never listen to it despite all of the ppl that say that it is an important album, is so ignorant, its not even funny. so in conclusion, he's a wack i Robot *** Nig6a.

DIlla- His beats are alright, but i haven't heard a verse i liked. ...and i dont see how i'm flaunting hate. I only respond when ppl say things like "Tell me lupe aint great" and :"Lupe best rapper under 30". what do you expect me to say. and also, I am a hater.

I don't know Fred... I think is just a miscommunication between you and Lupe. You see "Muhammed Walks" as him flauntin his religion, but I think he was just trying to give those who don't know the Muslim religion a better understanding of what it is and why he's the way he is. Alot of people is thinkin Muslim= Terrorist these days... I understand you on the Tribe situation, but at the same time thats his personal choice, maybe he don't like Tribe, and its not like listenin to Midnight Marauders is a requirement for hip hop... I mean, I bet there's alot of rappers out there who've never heard a single Beatles album, but does that mean they're ignorant too??? Cuz they was makin albums that were important to *ALL GENRES OF MUSIC*, you know what I mean?

Yeah i don't like him because of the whole midnight marauders issue. I think it was arrogant of him to say he wasn't gonna listen to an album by a group that pretty much laid the foundation to Lupe's style.

And i'm Muslim, i don't feel like he's flaunting it. Actually given that pretty much everyone hates on Muslims these days, i think its a good thing he's coming out with it. I don't really like the guy though, he's saying things that if you look into the underground, a lot of people have already said, but because he's got that mainstream appeal everyone acts like he's the first one to say it. I like some of his music regardless.

Oh Boy, welcome back. I'm not that religious, but I get what you're trying to say about the whole religion thing, but I think if you look past him as being an "i Robot as$ N*gga," an a$s hole (at times) and fronting on the Tribe you can see that he has some talent. Then again, you're a "hater," so I doubt that would work. It's all subjective.

I personally (since we're speaking "personally") saw it a different way. I respect him for being different and GLORIFYING, not flaunting, his faith instead of glorifying hoes, cars, stardom, money and bull that most other rappers of his status do. If he where Christian and followed the bible the scripture says to worship in everything you do. I don't see how thats too different. But I do respect your opinion as long as you respect mine.

i never heard any A Tribe Called Quest albums....but yea i heard that Jesus Walks remix he did and i deleted it off my ipod

but i like rappers cuz how they rap.....not cuz how they act outside of the booth.....and i like Lupe's mixtapes...

same thing with Kanye.....i hate his attitude but like his music
