It depends on the individuals. If you care more about you're beloved dog of 12 years more than some random hobo on the street, I don't think that you're insane, but in general I think a person's life is more valuable than an animals.

Again, it depends on the situation. Even though most animals are nicer and eisier to deal with than some humans, if it came to both passed out in a burning building and I couldn't get both at the same time, I would take the person first then go back for the animal.
As far as giving either food or quality of life deserved I think they are equal.

It depends on the human and the animal. I would value the life of a pet more than some asshole definitely. It depends who means something to you. Also it would upset me more if an animal died or was terribly injured through cruelty than if a person was killed.

Just the way I feel.

Also more people than animals have pissed me off, animals don't seem to have a malicious streak like people do, everything is instinctive.

I don't want to say insane, but I would strongly disagree with valueing an animal's life over a human's life. I like animals, I don't think they should be mistreated, but I have no qualms about saying that I value human life over animals. So, if it's necessary to test a medication on an animal to save millions of human lives, then I'm okay with that. However, I don't think it's appropriate to test something like mascara or lipgloss on an animal. I suppose that makes me speciest, I'm okay with that too.

The exception, of course, is if you make me choose a cute little puppy dog versus someone like Hitler. Actually, the puppy wouldn't even have to be cute. . . .

I think that depends on what you mean...I value animals lives just as much as human life...in fact I was bawling my eyes out when I ran over a cat and I cried for weeks after even though the lady behind me saw the whole thing and told me there was nothign i coul've done to stop in time...... BUT I also value certain animals nutrional values...

peta = insane

I love animals, and I haved owned pets..
all my family have either cats or dogs.
if you are talking about an individual animal - a trained police dog, or a treasured family pet, it has much more sentimental value than a scumbag druggie.

in general, if you're talking about a food animal, or an experimental animal.. the answer is yes.. you are insane if you value that animals life over a person who will use it for food, or benefit from the medicines tested on it.

and anyone who supports peta is - by my definition - totally insane

I do agree to certain extent, dont get me wrong I love animals but animals have to die so I can eat, or so that we can find a cure for aids, cancer, ect.... I'm not going to shed any tears for the animals, but they dont need to be abused by humans that are suppose to look after them and we shouldnt test stupid things like make up and other products on them

it depends..lets say the animal was a cat or dog in your family, and you loved the animal more then a family member (human), then you aren't insane..I think you just need to come to your senses I mean theres nothing wrong..but family will help you on things, however watching those aspca ads on TV makes me feel sad for those poorly treated animals,. of course I value them more then their terrible owners.

domestic?

yes, i do. As much as I am not an animal lover I would not want to see them cruelly treated and I think people who do so are sickos. However, I find it abbhorrent that in the UK we give more to Animal charities than to 'human' charities. We need to look after our fellow man first.

I also think that people who treat animals as humans (such as the owner calling themseleves mummy or daddy, and people who dress their animals in clothes) are well and truly off the planet!

WOW, another good one from the Blur!

I love my dog, she is my friend, and truly exhibits unconditional love for me.......and I for her.
I used to think (prior to having Joplin *I hate to say owner; as in prior to owning a pet, I don't own my friend, and that's what she is) that people who just loved their animals were weird, but alas now I am one of those people.
I do value Joplin's life over some other human beings, and I don't think I realized that until you just asked this question.
So thanks you for the growth experience!
