My family has always gone with real, the smell is pretty and it makes christmas feel less artificial. The downside though is that the pine needles will fall off and sting a little to step on. Of course if someone in your home is allergic you'd definatley want to go with the fake one. Hopefully you'll have the time to go out and hunt one down in a great big field of Christmas trees, because thats the most fun part of the whole Christmas experience.

I am very much against chopping trees down Bex but have always managed to buy a tree with roots on and up until last year have always had a real tree then planted it in the garden after. I kept one tree going for years like that - digging it up each Christmas and then putting it back in the garden! It is now nigh on impossible to buy a tree which hasn't been hacked down and if you do then it is very expensive so last year succumbed to an artificial one. It's not the same though. xx

Originally the trees outside the house were decorated. People just did not cut them down. Only because of laziness and the dominance over nature thing did people begin to cut the tree and bring it indoors. I will continue the old tradition and decorate the ones outside and have an artificial tree indoors.

I want a real artificial tree. None of those artificial fake trees for me. I want the real synthetic noble fir. Just like the one my dad use to chop down at the mall.

The real thing!
I don't know of anything artificial being better than the real thing...
Fake boobs vs. real ones
Fake wood furniture vs. real wood furniture
Fake chocolate (or any food for that matter) vs. the real thing
Fake people vs. real ones
Etc etc....
Same thing for a tree: the smell, the christmas-y feeling it gives you...I'm going out and buying my tree right now! :)

We always have a real one....and I don't think I would ever want it any other way. The smell of pine trees is an important part of Christmas as far as I am concerned.

i dont really have a preference. i think theyre both pretty! my boyfriend and i have lived together for the past couple years and we can never decide on it, so we get one of each. the fake big one goes up a few days before thanksgiving and the real tree thats a smaller one goes up in our bedroom the 1st of december. it works well for us both!
