The Egg.
If a chicken is hatched from an egg- the egg must come first. Without an egg- no chicken would be hatched.
Even the chicken that mated to have the egg came from an egg, get what i'm saying?

The egg because the egg had to make the chicken in the first place. But a chicken didn't necessarily have to make the egg.

When I first saw this question, over fifty years ago, it was of some interest then. However, now it is hackneyed, cliche and worn-out.

Darwin tells us that EGGS came first, the beast that developed into a CHICKEN was an EGG-layer. Common sense tells most of us this. Still. full marks for eliciting a response.

Your next question should be, "When a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a noise?"

or

"What is the sound of one hand clapping?"

To me the answer is simple. The chicken evolved from earlier birds through mutations, right? well, a chicken had to be born from an egg laid by a slightly different bird. so the egg came first, and the chicken was born from it.

The egg, if you believe in evolution then there must have been a tipping point between a species that would not be classed as a chicken creating something that was.

The chicken came first because God created the first chicken ever when he put animals on the Earth.
