Bubba (below) Agreed! However, out of 300 million Americans, I am certain that there are others who would gladly do the work if the pay were commensurate with the job.

No - that's just the excuse that's being given to justify outsourcing & illegal immigration.

What is a fair wage, Chi? How about the wage that an employer and an employee mutually agree upon and find acceptable? That would be the market wage, pal. We have an unemployment rate below 5%, which means that anyone who wants a job has one. 5% unemployment is effectively 0%.

This situation leaves us with the question of whether Americans would be better served picking lettuce, or whether Americans would be better served by hiring foreign workers who would gladly work for less and using the saved money to have Americans work better paying, more productive jobs. You will also notice that this setup brings us lower prices.

No, there is no job that some Americans would not do for a fair wage. . And a fair wage has to be a wage that can be lived on comfortably. It has to be a decent living wage, and it has to keep up with the cost of living. *sm*

You would have to define "Fair Wage".

I've worked for Minimum Wage before, HARDLY fair in any sense of the word;
I've worked salaried jobs, where the salary versus hours worked didn't even MAKE Minimum Wage, again hardly "fair".
I've worked in unionized labor and this was indeed what I would consider "fair", as in "equitable", for the work performed.
I've also worked in the Army, where, if you're counting pay based on hours, you are in the wrong career field, but again, "Fair Wage" to risk your life? Not even close.

An American with hungry children will do anything for a fair wage. They've done it before, they do it now, and they will continue as long as there is a job market.

Define fair wage? Fair wage for the US means that our jobs are now being performed overseas because corporations cannot compete with each other giving the US worker its demands for a fair wage, health insurance, pensions and company benefit packages. Instead we have turned into a consumer state with everything we hold dear being mass produced in other countries for our benefit.

I cannot think of one. A fair wage to feed,cloth and live as every American should without help.

Americans are very hard workers compared to other countries so I would think there no jobs that are needed to be outsourced/in sourced because of lack of willing employees.
