I hate writting research papers too
lol

hmm...I suggest you go to wikipedia (fk everyone that says they arent reliable...lol i love wiki <3) and see what you can find about gay marraige there...or search it on google

because the point is to do research...right?

or change it to something thats easier to research...likeee......
a time period in history
an object
something of the sort

but i think your question is good (even tho Im for gay marriage), I hope the wikipedia helps! (or maybe you should trying getting some public responce research info? post a poll on here? and ask what ppl think about it? maybe that will help with your paper :))

I am not against it but I can think openly about things.

Some ideas to consider:
1) The need for society to hold certain values, so that people are not too divided by many little out-groups doing their own things.
2) The comfort of the majority of people in feeling they are "right" about their moral values & family values.
3) It enhances the strength of the dominant US religion--Christianity.
4) Using the governing method of the Romans in the time of Jesus, and the Ottoman Empire: have a general ,overall government but let the outlying places do what they want. So, let the gay people have the staus quo: domestic partnerships, to give them the LEGAL things they want, but no "marriage", so the Christians get what THEY want in the "sacredness" of their "holy, spiritual" ceremony "before God".
5) P.S. DON'T make it a Constitutional amendment, though, even in your paper; that's too hard to change as people change in values, over time.

Although I understand why you have chosen such a topic, and i agree with your opinions, it is a very contentious subject. In most countries it is illegal although in the UK, sadly, you can go though some sort of civil ceremony. Personally I would leave well alone so that you don't get accused of bigotry of homophobia.

I would choose something more like

'Is it right to ban foxhunting?'

'Do supermarkets in town centres kill off small shops?'

'Should fast food outlets carry a health warning?'

'Vegetarianism. If we adopt it would it help animals or stop them being reared?'

'Would it be better to pay Brazilian farmers to do nothing rather than buy products that come from the rainforests they destroy?'

'Should we consider undersea cities?'

if you want to pick something easier, try the funding for the war in iraq. you can find plenty of reasons for why it's good or bad.

the gay marriage topic is kind of tricky because it's mostly your personal preferences and opinions. you won't have any facts to back it up, really.

You'd have to go to some religious sites and see what their reasons are. They might be able to give you examples, other than religious-based, that might help you make your point.

Ask the church, they have a proof:) or you can proof it by yourself - with your arguments, why you are against it.
It's all what matters after all - what do you think, your agument.
