Tell whether this man is an idiot or not.

He has a philosophy that you can make the best of what you have with everything and be glad with what you've got.

In this case, he was dying from an embolism.

Rather than call an ambulance, he dicided to be greatful for the life he has and enjoy it.
So he sat down and watched star-wars and died before he even got to the emporer get killed.

Why is this philosophy wrong?

It isn't philosophically wrong by my estimation. And no, I would not categorize him as an idiot for making this decision.

Who says it was wrong? Everyone at some point in their lives must make a decision of quality vs. quantity. Most people prefer a moderate amount of both, while some live long but spartan lives, while still others (like some rock stars) live brief but exciting lives.

Perhaps this guy figured he didn't have much chance of surviving his embolism anyway, so he'd enjoy his last moments. Or maybe he didn't trust doctors, or believed that it was "his time to go." In the end, it was his life and his life alone, and only he could decide how he was going to spend it.

How did he know he was dying? What ever does an embolism feel like?
This philosophy is questionable because he should have been watching "My Cousin Vinnie". It's a much funnier film and not nearly as long!
