Is religion one of the main things you look for in finding the so called right person?

For me personally, Religion wouldn't matter. They could not be religious at all and I would still marry them.

It is personal at the end of the day.

If you are a devoutly religious person, I can see that it would be an issue.

If you are not very devout, it probably won't matter. It will only come up a bit when you have kids (go to church or no? teach them what?) or when there is a death in close proximity.

Philosophically, it will come up every now and then. If neither of you are philosophical, then it might not come up at all.

It would be an issue for me if my partner had an extreme view either way.

Peace.

It would matter to me a great deal. Ultimately, I would not be able to marry an athiest, because I do feel religion and spirituality are very important. And I plan to raise my children to be religious and it would be important for the father of my children to share the same religious beliefs that I do.

Religious should NOT matter at all coz. religious was made to teach people what is good and what is bad. if the person u want to marry does know what hurts you and what not..and ofcourse some ethics towards society then you are good.

dont worry about religious..its all our rules once we made and our belief to make others learn and follow it.

These days..people get it by experience and hence some can afford to be atheist.

All the best..go for it with no doubt

I hope she's not religious, But consider her beliefs.
The bible says not to be unequally yoked.
A yoke is what work animals wear to attach them to a plow, for instance . The team wearing the yoke maby starts out okay. Then one or the other may have problems and cause problems for both ,causing a mess on the ,proverbial ,field. This causes alot more work, and believe me , marriage is work. Then there is the cost of cleaning up the mess, because one of you may want to make it work and the other may want to change teams.
Let me know if this helped.
Blessings!

No, but I am an athiest... I think the most important thing is to know if you are compatable and you can see your future life together as being compatable...

If religion happens to get in the way of that, then yes it would be an issue, if it does not then it wouldent be an issue at all...

To me religion isn't the most important thing I look for, but i do not want to be influenced by an atheist. So, it probably would matter.

i am religious so to me it matters.
i know not everyone is and i completely respect that.
i'm not going to ignore you because your an athiest and i'm not going to put you down either
i just couldnt marry you because its against my beliefs.
even if i did marry someone who believed differently from me i know it would always be hurting me on the inside. the fear if what if my religion turns out to be right and what if all the bad things actually did happen...it would drive me crazy.

i dont want to seem like i'm some religous fanatic or anything. and i dont want to offend anyone either.

yeah, just because I totally believe in God and I don't care what religion someone has just as long as we both believe that there is a God and it's because of him or her that we are here. I'm not a religious person just I know what i believe.

I believe in God and his word, my fiance on the other hand does not. Well he believes there is a God but just isn't religious. I would like our children to be raised as Christians, going to church, and believing in God. However I still love my fiance and am not going to disown him for his beliefs.
