I blame it on the neocon propaganda machine and pride. Most people who fit the description you mentioned limit their news sources to the neocon propaganda machine. They repeat what they hear from Rush and others as though it were the Gospel. Once they have commited themselves, their pride won't allow them to admit that they have been wrong about the people and political positions that they have supported.
There are some conservatives who don't get caught up in the nonsense and still think for themselves and listen to other media outlets. Those conservtives usually don't support Bush or the war.
The neocons have used people llike Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Bill O Reilly to convince many conservatives that anyone who disagrees with them is the evil enemy. The venom spewed by neocon commentators has created a disease in this nation that is spreading so much that many people are ready to resort to violence to remove the opposition.
Most liberals preach tolerance....neocons say tolerance is an evil invention of the anti-christ and cannot be tolerated. God knows where this will end, but I do know that the only hope for healing a divided nation is the repeated assurance that fear and intolerance are our greatest enemies. Fear and intolerance are the true enemies of peace.

This country needs to come together and that will never happen if the left or right continues to point fingers at the other side. BOTH SIDES ARE FULL OF CORRUPTION AND LIES. I know many liberals who refuse to hear facts as well, and resort to name-calling rather than discussing the issue. That does not mean I stereotype all liberals as people who cannot behave with civility and intelligence. Both sides are guilty of this, open your eyes.

i certainly don't think the war is a delight as many others. that said you must be able to hae a logical discussion, an emotional response closes the door. Too bad this was not done bfore and things might be different. I don't think the far right is anymore closed minded as the far left. take care.

Well liberals arent exactly open minded either. Im a democrat, but not a bleeding heart, and common sense would tell anyone that you cant just pull everyone out immediately of a war we started. No one thinks Bush talks to anyone but the voices in his head. why do democrats think immigration isnt a problem? Why do they want to take out of everyone's pockets but their own? There's stupidity and poor judgement on both sides, which is precisely why party voting is not only retarded but for people too lazy to really weigh the issues. Global warming is a hypothesis, abortion and gay marriage will still be an issue in 4 years, national healthcare is a failure in every country that offers it, and if hilary wants to gamble my social security i want it back. Better in my pocket than wiping butts with it.

Honestly, because liberals refuse to meet them halfway on the stuff that they CAN'T compromise on. Liberals just say they are wrong and closed-minded, and get offended by everything they say.
For example, a lot of Christians are conservatives because of the Bible (gay marriage, abortion, etc). A liberal says a conservative is wrong to oppose gay marriage because they disagree. They start talking about biology or desire. What is biology to a Christian when the Bible says no? You have to go to their core, their deepest beliefs and reason with them there. It took someone ages to tell me that there were different interpretations of the Bible (see soulforce.org) and that's what got me to see their side. Appeal to a conservatives love of free-choice and try to make them libertarians. Even hard-core Christians have some kind of free-will. You can't just call them stupid. Pick an issue, and I will tell you a better way to get a conservative to listen to you. Just calling us insensitive doesn't do a damn thing. We don't understand you. We think you are irrational, immoral, and crazy. By attacking back, you don't show us anything different. Argue on our level. Understand where we are coming from first. Most liberals have no idea why conservatives think their side makes sense, they are just appalled that we do. Don't believe me? Look at your post. We are both just attacking each other.
When I argue personally with a liberal, I do more listening than talking. I never get upset, call names, or interrupt. I have had my opinion changed on the death penalty, the war, and I am currently questioning my old position on homosexuality. I have NEVER ever seen a liberal change their minds on anything. They go with popular opinion that they see on the media and normally just air their own opinions. That's just my experience. Liberals don't listen. I've never met any liberal who has ever listened to a word a conservative has said to them. I can see them crafting their own responses as they are listening (which isn't listening at all).
I know it's wrong to lump them all together like that, but if there is an open-minded and polite liberal, I have not met them.
I do know conservatives that you can't even budge a little. You must be meeting those.
Honestly, I don't think it's liberals or conservs. It's people. People are prideful. It's not about what's right anymore, it's about WHO is right. Who is smarter. People are stupid and competitive. If you do find someone who can listen with humility and be budged, that's not just a good mind, that's a good friend. That's someone that isn't just out for themselves. I try to do it, but sometimes I get uppity and fail. Oh well.

There are many on either side of the aisle who respond in this manner. I'm sure there are many thoughtful, sensible and, intelligent conservatives however, there are few here that understand anything but, name calling and, contempt. Perhaps it is because they were bullies or, bullied as children.

It is certainly not TRUE conservatives you speak of. Liberals are known for being loud, disrespectful loons. Perhaps young neo-cons who happen to watch CNN think this is acceptable behavior. True conservatives do NOT like the thought of war- its spending more and more money. Many of us dislike Bush because he has ventured so far from being a true conservative. We do NOT like others making decisions for us. In fact, true conservatives like to be left ALONE to make their own decsions regarding their lives. It is the liberals who make the most fuss out of everything. And if you honestly believe that conservatives are the only ones name-calling, you are gravely ignorant or just quite narrow-minded yourself. This polarization is getting more and more bitter as time goes on. No one is nice to eachother anymore. No one is 'respectful' and 'considerate' of the opposing viewpoints. So please dont try to pass this all off as a conservative downfall, for although the party is far from perfect, they are no worse than the liberals. And since when is it so EASY for LIBERALS to hear differing opinions?

Morals and Dem's in the same sentence.. You are so funny.
If the Democrats had answers to the Countries problems, rather than complain about our President who quite frankly has only 8 yrs to clean up the 20 yr mess that Clinton created/ignored some one might consider what you have to say.
I'm sorry for your frustration, oh and by the way the Dem's are doomed to take the White House.

To preach to me about how I think, is absurd. The world is filled with people who don't agree with you. And I believe that, given your professed experience, you would be well aware of that. You know that some libs are ill-mannered, as are some conservatives. That's how the world works. Like you, I've read thousands of posts on this forum and some depend on name-calling. Get used to it. Please do not judge a group on the actions of a few. And don't be caught in the same trap. You've resorted to pigeon-holing Conservatives with your opinions.
