Oh yes.
They know you inside out, they see your weaknesses, they know your fears and insecurities.
Those closest to us always have the potential to hurt us the most, that's why so many people can be commitment phobes!

Well, let's put it this way.....boyfriend wise...yes, it has happened to me a lot. However....if it was someone that wasn't close to me, or I didn't care what they did or thought, then they wouldn't hurt me. So technically speaking, the people I love and care for the most have the most potential to hurt me; but the chances are slim that they will.

Well, when someone I don't know very well or care little about does something hurtful it really is not a biggie.
But when someone I care about does, it hurts more because of my feelings for them...The fact that someone who I have chosen to open up to and care about would willfully hurt me really cuts to the bone.
In fact, that is worse than the actual hurtful act...

Yes, because as they are closest to you, it hurts more.

Yes I think so. I think that because you are so close to someone it is 'safe' to say what you think even if it is hurtful. I know when someone close to me tells me something I don't want to here it hurts but I don't take it to heart.

They used to. I would let them get me in a vulnerable position, and then I would wind up hurt. Now, I keep them at an arm's length and my heart in one piece.

Yes. Since they're closest to me what they do and say has a bigger impact on me.

They have the most power to hurt me, but most of this hurt is unintentional.

Actually, I think they do. If someone you don't know tries to hurt/insult you, you just sort of rub it off. But if it's someone close who means alot to you, it would hurt more.
