When you open the seat, you'll see a flap of rubber on the tank, where the seat meets the tank.
Just pull it off the tank.
Turn off the petcock and remove the fuel line.
Here's where it gets tricky -
There is a "cross over" fuel line, connecting the left and right halves of the tank.
That has to be removed to lift the tank off the bike.
Use a pair of "hemostats" to clamp the line, on one side of the tank (search the web for "hemostats" if you don't know what they are).
Pull the fuel line off the other side of the tank and immediately block the outlet on the tank with your finger.
Lift the rear of the tank and pull the tank towards the rear of the bike.
Reattach the cross over line.

If you don't have a means to clamp the line, you can
--drain the tank.
--pull it off and remove the tank fast enough that you don't make to much of a mess.
--get a second person to help you clamp the line with a pair of pliers.
You can use a small pair of "vice grip" locking pliers, a heavy duty "paper clip" (if the line is soft enough and not dried out), use your imagination.

Well, it's been a while since I saw one of these, but here goes. The front of the tank is supported on 2 u brackets which hug 2 rubber discs which are on the sides of the frame up near the steering yoke. The back of the tank has a tab which is under a rubber "strap". Before pulling the tank you'll need a 6mm screw or a piece of round bar about that size to plug the rubber tube which crosses over at the front of the tank underneath. Pull off one end from the tube on the tank and plug it. Next, turn off the gas supply valve and disconnect the gas line from the shut off valve. Next, pull back the rubber strap at the rear of the tank and lift the rear of the tank from the strap. Slide the tank back about 2" and the tank should be free to remove. Good Luck!! Hope this helps.
