I've done it all except 23d

A house in Germany you and I left empty (5)

I've got - - e - t or possibly d - e - t which cd be dwelt.

Can anyone make sense of it?

I agree with you. The only word I can think of for that clue, and those letters, is dwelt.
'dwell' is the other possibility, but the answer sounds as if it should be in the past tense.

Could it be 'haunt'? Or shell?

Dwelt is the only English word that fits d-e-t.
Empty in German is 'leer' but leert doesn't make sense.
Anagrams of 'I left' are 'filet', flite and tifle, none of which fit.
