I don't know about racism, but I went to a bar in Toronto once. They were watching a hockey game. I asked them to change it to Wheel of Fortune. I woke up 2 days later...

Your examples are mostly false.
- It is not true that immigrants can only drive taxis in Canada. Are you trying to imply that they cannot buy cars and get driver's licenses? Or are you trying to imply that the majority makeup of cabbies are from ethnic minorities? If the former, then that is false. I see immigrants all the time driving cars. If the latter, that is not a form of racism. No one forces an immigrant to be a cabbie.
- As for the head tax, which applied to Chinese only as far as I have read, applied... hmm... over 60 years ago? 80 years ago? Castigating a country for something that happened a long time ago does not prove your point since we currently live in the year 2007.
- I haven't heard about Tony Blair saying that. It takes more than oil to be a superpower so no Canada is not going to be one. But what does that have to do with your point?

Where did you get this BS? There are immigrants of all professions working here. They don't all drive cabs! Canada is one of the most tolerant nations on EARTH! Sure it has its own problems, but they are miniscule compared to that of Russia, America, or even Eastern Europe.
The government of Canada made a formal apology for the head tax.
Canada become a superpower? Everyone knows Tony Blair is an idiot! Why believe anything that guy says?
t won't run out of oil in 20 years. The proven reserves in Alberta alone can supply the whole world in oil for 50 years. Not to mention all the other untouched oil fields in the country.
Whatever is in the future for Canada, it won't be near as bad as what the USA will get and deserves.

Canada is already an economic superpower, 12 straight surplus budgets only country in the G8 to do this. Immigrants that drive taxis who are qualified for higher paying jobs is a problem but the government is working on new qualifications for immigrants. With the oil reserve that we have presently we will be OK for 100 years and that doesn't include the off-shore on the east coast or the new findings in Alberta which is larger than the sands that we are working on presently

There is no country on this earth that does not face the problem of racism to one degree or another. There is a huge distinction you must make, however. That is the very big difference between personal racism and institutionalized racism. America has all but eliminated institutionalized racism and put in place many laws criminalizing it. As well as providing plenty of recourse for those who believe they are victims of racism.
Civil Rights legislation on the Federal Level has often been used to prosecute racists. In America today, institutionalized racism is largely a thing of the past.
There are still racist people. Racism exists among all groups. That is one battle that is still raging. Each subsequent generation, however, seems to be more and more tolerant of other races and will eventually lead to universal acceptance in America.
Some other countries are more tolerant but many are far less tolerant than the USA. Japan, for instance. There are still plenty of clubs and businesses that are strictly off limits to anyone who is not Japanese. Mexico does not allow anyone who is not Mexican to own property.

Canada certainly doesn't have the population or power to be a superpower. I think that oil in Canada will probably last for more than 20 years, although I don't agree with the policies of the Conservative government on the international stage, where it humiliates Canada, and the Alberta government's policies on oil.
True, there is racism in Canada, although of a more covert nature, with Canadians less willing to admit it, and less rampant in than in the US. On the whole though, I think Canada is a safer society that the US, and certainly more liberal.

Racism= It's not just US American, It's EVERYWHERE. Some just hide it better. Too bad though, that people waste so much time hating.
Canada Superpower= I don't really think they WANT to be a superpower. Doesn't seem that way to me.
Running out of oil= That will be an everybody thing. The planet better start reacting to this before we get caught in a REAL deficit. How 'bout them hybrid cars!!!!!

There is racism everywhere, less in Canada than most other countries.
"immigrants can only drive taxis in Canada"
This is obviously false.
"Canada would be a superpower"
Why does it have to become one, its fine the way it is now.
