well if you have a week until you are due then you are close to giving birth anyway. You could possibly be losing your mucus plug but even so that doesn't mean that you are going into labor anytime soon. When you are in labor you will know!

congrats

It's possible it could be your mucus plug. Is it slimy and stringy, tinged with pink or red? If so, it's a great sign, but isn't a reliable indicator about when you'll be going into labor.

If it's JUST brown, I'll assume it's blood, blood that has gotten oxygen, so it's a little older.

Best bet is to always call your provider's office and talk to the nurse or on call physician. They'll be better able to medically advise you (better than us). Take note of all of your symptoms for the last 24 hours so you can share that with them when you call.

Best wishes!

It's called "show". Bloody show can occur as early as a couple of weeks before labor, or once you're already in it. Your water may break now, but it may break much later. You know that you are officially in early labor because of the contractions and the dilation of your cervix from zero to four centimeters. Like the Braxton Hicks contractions you have probably been experiencing for some time, early labor contractions are mild and begin in the back, moving forward in a wave like motion. You can differentiate them from the Braxton Hicks contractions by moving. Changing your position or getting up and walking strengthens a labor contraction, while it has no effect on a Braxton Hicks contraction. These one day contractions will be thirty to sixty seconds long and between five and twenty minutes apart.

Call the doctors office -- we aren't sure what you mean, like where your period would be? Usually this happens in the beginning of pregnancy so it may not be abnormal toward the end of the pregnancy but give the doctor a call -- they are used to ALL questions and someone is available 24/7. You can also call your local hospital and ask for the birthing nurses and tell them what happened and see what their advice would be.

something brown? Like blood? A ball? A baby? Call your doctor or go to ER.

This could be a sign that you are close to going into labor...you may even be having some minor contractions(which are not always noticable) Call your doctor, but if you start experiencing any contractions go to the hospital.

That is what is called a mucous plug. Very common when your cervix starts to dilate. This means you are close to delivery. Nothing to worry about.

It is probably nothing to worry about but you should contact your doctor to be sure. You don't want to take chances.

Well if that is the case then you are getting close to labor. But how dialated are you?
