"Now, I know that we can all run to the internet and look these up, but I'm just looking for the ones that you can think of right off the top of your head."
I think this might be interesting because the other English speaking countries might have some sayings that we are not familiar with and being from the Southern part of the USA, I am quite sure that we have some strange ones that folks in other parts the USA never even imagined existed.

My basic thought today, "Dead as a doornail" brought this question to life. I never saw a "live" doornail much less a "dead one."
And let's face it folks, the English language has to be a "real horror", for those having to learn it as a second language.
