I recently got a zune and I want to put DVD's on it. Please only recommend DVD burners that are able to get past the protection on the DVD.

When I said DVD burner, I meant DVD ripper. Sorry.

That has nothing to do with the burner, but a lot with what software you use.

EDIT: I use AUTOGK, which turns DVDs into AVI files.

You mean a DVD -ripper-, a program that can get the movie off the DVD, right? A Zune doesn't actually use DVDs, does it?

A good free one is DVD Shrink. It can get past the protection and 'rip' a DVD onto your hard drive. It can also compress a 9gb dual layer DVD into 4.5 gb to fit on a single-layer, or to take up less space in your Zune, which is why it's called DVD Shrink.

And it's free! You can download it at: http://dvdshrink.org.

Now I don't have a Zune so I don't know what format you need for the files. You might also need a program to convert the VOB files on the DVD to AVI or MPEG or something. But just to -rip- the DVD, DVD Shrink works great.
