obviously to christians it is a sin, but was this nation not founded with the idea of separation of church and state? benjamin franklin and thomas jefferson, two very important founding fathers were deists, not christians. and the christianity of even george washington is debatable!

anyway, even if we're gonna define marriage as "between a man and a woman," why not have civil unions which we give equal rights? then all those babies that weren't lost due to abortion could have a good home. just because people are gay doesn't mean they are child molesters, and i doubt that there are more gay pedophiles than straight pedophiles. anyway, just looking for why anyone wouldn't gay people to have the legal right to unite other than the fact that they don't support seperation of church and state.

No, this nation was NOT founded on the Separation of Church and State.

That statement does not appear iany of the founding documents, the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.

NONE!

Make of "gay marriage" or "gay unions" what you want but quit rewriting the laws of the United States.

The Founding Fathers were, to a man, religious men that believed that God was instrumental in establishing the US.

It's in the Declaration of Independence:

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's. . . . .GOD. . . . . entitle them, . . . . .

(Please note the word "God" in the text. Wonder how THAT got there? Must be a Neocon plot. . .)

Actually, it's the will of the people.

You got God whether you like it or not. It's on your money and it's on your founding documents.

No Separation of church and state, Integration of Moral values with the state to prevent secular lies.

Not all christians consider gay marriage to be sin. The early church performed gay weddings for centuries, a few denominations never stopped.

There's nothing wrong with it, except that
it's a political football issue meant to distract
the electorate from other issues.
Who really cares?
Gays in commited relationships?
(A minority within a minority.)

But while we argue about it, we are distracted from:
need for political ethical reform,
the errosion of civil liberties,
deficit spending,
the mushrooming debt,
the inevitable credit crunch and subsequent
devaluation of the dollar,
and so on.....

I dont find anything wrong with people being gay or even getting married. You are entirely right about what you say.
I dont understand whats so wrong with it. Out of all the gay people I have ever met, they have the biggest hearts.

nothing is wrong with it.


We just have a lot of people that like to tell others how to live their lives and what to do.


I think they should be allowed to have the same joy/misery that the rest of us have. I love my wife to death but there are sometimes where I think to myself, If I were gay, I could have double my wardrobe. Hmmmmm..... :)

nothing is wrong in my opinion, that is it is between the two involved. the problem is the majority of legislators and society are in heterosexual relationships, and they vote according to their values and religious beliefs. personally, i think it is against the bible teachings but is no different than fornication between heterosexual couples. it is for their higher power and them one day in the next life. i would hate to think we would all burn in hell for having sex before marriage. fear strickens the ignorant.
