Been a Joe Walsh fan since the James Gang was the house band at Kent State (who's old?). I think that Rides Again is a rock masterpiece. It was either '69 or '70 that the band played Toledo and a friend and myself managed to coax Joe to a local coffee house after the concert. He held court for a good hour or so in the music room there, playing acoustic and singing for the crowd. Simply amazing. My faves in random order:
Funk #49
The Confessor
Walk Away
Rosewood Bitters
Turn to Stone
Tend My Garden
The Bomber

Joe Walsh fan roll call..."I'm In!"

"How ya Doin?"

Loved his annual "guitar lessons" radio show
Funnyyyyyyyy stuff.

"In The City" may be his best.

The list is a long run (cough) but here's few not mentioned here yet.

Tend My Garden
Ashes, the Rain and I

At a time when sex couldn't kill, and getting high was considered expanding your consciousness, Walsh gave the Eagles a harder edge and contributed a guitar riff that seemed to sum up their circumstances.

Life in the Fast Lane
(In some ways, part of a rock masterpiece so successful it would lead to their undoing)

-Yeah, just 'cause you wrote 'em don't mean you can play 'em- "Walsh 11-07"

I know you may find this hard to believe, but I was at a James Gang show ('72) when they were literally booed off the stage. The opening act (Quicksilver Messenger Service) returned to finish the show.

Edit:
BTW "Bill" Walsh rocked 2!

I haven't heard a lot of Joe Walsh except for more of the radio airplay and what one of the guys I work with has played for me (both solo and the material he did with The James Gang. Though by no means am I an expert, I do enjoy the material he's put out over the years.

Although I did become burnt out on The Eagles years ago. I guess that's what happens when they get played every 1 hour and 29.6 minutes on classic radio stations.

Apart from his work with The Eagles I only know a few of his solo songs, but I love them!

Life's Been Good
Rocky Mountain Way
Turn To Stone

It was interesting to find out that the Stevie Nicks song
'Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You'
was actually written for Joe, after she fell in love with him, and found out about the death of his daughter.

I've always loved Joe. Solo, Eagles, James Gang, everything. Some of my faves are all ready mentioned so I'll just add one or two. "Meadows" off of the Rocky Mountain Way album and ILBT's off the You Bought it You Name It Album. Anyone else on here remember when he ran for President?

In the City and Hotel California (actually I love that whole cd) as well as Funk 49 are great

Life’s Been Good’ or ‘Rocky Mountain Way are burned out for me even though they are good

Pretty Maids All in a Row on Hotel California is a song he wrote that I love

There is one I don't hear anymore.. It's called "ordinary Average Guy" from 1991 I still love by him.

Rock's jester! Love the guy & he's a great guitar player. Underrated, I think.

Life's Been Good (of course)
Funk 49
Life of Illusion
In the City
*Walk Away
Turn to Stone (LOVE this one. There're 2 versions I know of: the early original & a slightly later remake. It's faster & better produced)

*When I was still dj'ing, I spun this tune on the air (vinyl) & at the VERY end, I heard this Creepy, sinister, insane laughter w/ scary music playing under it. Very likely Joe having fun, but it was weird!

I never really got into The Eagles, but The James Gang were f***ing superb. "Yer Album" and "Rides Again" were superb, as was their "Live" album( The version they did of The Yardbirds' "Lost Woman" was better than the original). Funk 48 and 49 were great songs, but that Crosby song they did on "Yer Album" was the best..."Bluebird" wasn't it?

Totally a fan. I saw him quite a few times with the Eagles and with Glenn Frey as a Duo.....He is amazing---just wonder how he was able to play & sing while so very intoxicated!!!!! (they had to literally "walk" him on stage when he was with Glenn)...but he came thru beautifully!!!!!

My faves are "All night long" & Lifes been good to me (so far)
