No. The US Government should have no laws pertaining to any religion.

I don't believe so. I have no problem with people practicing different religion, but I do have a problem when government and religion mix. All business used to be closed Sunday for church, and you still can't buy alcohol in some states on a Sunday because it's the 'day of God'. We have a problem with gay marriage in our country because the definition of marriage in the constitution came from the churches idea of marriage.
If it is such a problem for the Muslim people to have this hour off on Friday for their Jummah Prayer, perhaps it would be better to educate those Employers about the religion so they can make a better decision from there.
I believe if a law was instituted that would basically make employers give people of a particular religion time off every week for prayer, I think you would see the following trends;
People of other religions would begin to demand some time off so they may practice prayer. The time would be used for prayer only by a small group of people. Less people of Muslim religion would be hired in lower ranking positions, like in the service industry. It would also give people who are intolerant of the Muslim religion because of their 'off' and more or less ignorant view of the war and the events of 9-11 to bash the Muslims and maybe even start some hate crimes.
Simply put - religion needs to be separated from state. Our government our built to be separate from the church. People may practice what religion they want at the social and personal cost of practicing. For Muslims practicing in America, they must take the cost of possibly not doing their Friday Jummah Prayer should their employer see it unfit to take the hour off. Just like every other Sunday I miss mass because I need to open the store early.
If people want to live where their religion is governed so that they may have every prayer time that religion asks for, the United States is not it. It was founded and built for just the opposite reason.
(sorry that was so long!)

a million. There are already rules prohibiting discrimination on any relegious foundation, so this one isn't even mandatory, merely the clerks ought to be knowledgeable, and for saftey, we ought to confirm human beings, so in specific circumstances the hijab could come off. 2. No,instituting this type of regulation could create a defacto endorsement of a faith. 3. No, we've already got too many federal holiday's. each and every fed. holiday expenses the government (us) tens of millions of greenbacks. Police get extra time pay, firefighters, janitors, etc, etc. in reality we could continually eliminate some we've already got. 4. leave the food as much as the food service distributors. maximum federal development lease the cafeteria area to a 0.33 occasion, for this reason, if the call for is severe sufficient, those specific food would be created. 5. could we furnish alters, confessionals, etc? No. 6. i could be shocked if this type of committee would not already exsist. If it would not, then I agree, it can be a stable concept.

Only if we make a law that allows Christians to have Sundays off, Jews have Saturdays off and any other religious person to have the day off they decide to worship on. But for sake of fairness I think we should get Friday- Sunday off and then most people would have a 3 day weekend.

Do the Muslims in their countries allow English speaking foreigners time off for Christmas or other special times or holidays? I would have to take that into account.

No, absolutely not. It's up to each individual person to schedule time for their religious practices & beliefs in their personal lives. Setting this up as a gov't practice is only asking for trouble at many levels. There are many Christians and Jews who need to adapt their religious practices to fit into their work schedules or visa versa. For Muslims to expect employers & gov't to work around their practices is unreal....

Of course. The only religions our government is allowed to discriminate against is Christianity and Judaism.

No. There is a reason why we have separation of church and state in this country. There isn't a law requiring employers to give Christians Sunday off (or Jews Saturday off).
