Othello is the name of the commercially available by Gabriel *but* Reversi is the name of the game in the public domain with the same rules. The difference between the games is the stating position. In the Othello, the players each begin with two units positioned diagonally from each other. In Reversi, the players begin with two units orthognally to each other. There is no other difference in gameplay. Reversi sets are more prevalent in England where the game has never fallen out of favor.
