that's genuine what you're asserting, for confident. history must be taken under consideration in assessing West Vs. East, however: The final 2 cups have long previous to Western communities, and admittedly, i don't think of which will exchange this 365 days. The West performs greater advantageous protection, traditionally, and protection wins championships. the previous couple of communities to make it to the finals or win it in the East have not remained contenders in any respect; Tampa Bay, Carolina, Ottawa, Pittsburgh. nicely, the Pens could nonetheless be contenders. in no way count selection out a team with Crosby and Malkin on it. although, they're nonetheless in an abominable 10th in the East, and the postseason is drawing near speedier than that they had like. that they had greater advantageous restoration that team quickly.

Boston opened the season with a Western road trip, and Dallas just finished a tour of the Atlantic division teams. My point is... some teams have started interdivisional play already.
Maybe not all teams played opposing conference teams yet (my Rangers have only played Dallas, now, and that was at home), but they'll play their 10 games by the end of the season. I promise.

Looks like they are changing that for next year. Teams will only be playing each team in their division six times instead of eight. Every team will face each other at least once, either on the road or at home.
Rivalries, like the battle of Alberta, lose their sting when done (or overdone) eight times a year.

Its ironic you ask this now, well post lockout the Bettman changed the schedule to increase rivalries with division foes. They recently figured out that this is kinda just more boring then anything, they met I believe three days ago and changed the schedule for next year so there was at least one game played against every time in the league.

Well, I bet your glad (like me) about the schedule change next year then. But if thats the only one you see this month, there'll be more next month. The Wings have I believe 3 or 4 eastern conference games, so it'll be awesome. :D
