I want to hang the lights from the brick part of the garage. Since I had my house painted, I hesitate to put staples into the wood.

Here is the easiest and safest way for your house.

You will need to have two or three holes in the wood/brick parts. Go to the home improvement store, and purchase furring strips 1x2 you can get them in 8' and 10' lengths. Use the furring strips as you would the siding, and attach your lights on it.

Hope this help, and I explained it OK.

I have wondered the same thing so I am going to search for an answer that doesn't require nails etc.
Everything I have found so far requires nails or staples. Except for the link below which is installed only once.

Easy-Hang Light Traxx

This looks like about the best way once it's installed it can be used year after year.
