when i switch the central heating on after a while one of the radiators starts making a loud noise,so then i turn it up from the same radiotar or sometimes turn in down then it stops but after a while it starts again,would anyone out there know why this happens and what should i do dont really wanna call someone out coz i know they will charge a fortune a really cant afford to pay

Everyone's on the right track with the water level thing. You gotta bleed the pipes out from the highest point in the system.
Another thing to look at is the piping itself. Thermal expansion sounds like the culprit to me. The pipes rubbing as they expand and contract is what causes the noise.
What you gotta do is follow the pipes all the way around. Look for any place that the pipes are in direct contact with any structure, wood ,hangers etc. Wherever it touches, you gotta install a standoff or a bearing of some sort . Nylon or lead works best. Good luck.

Hot water heat? Sounds like you have air in the system and it needs to be bled out.

if it is hot water twp, it mike have air in the lines that make the noise.then you will have to call the man out to get the air out ,

CHECK THE FILTERS KEEP THEM CLEAN OR CHANGE THEM
