I'm torn on this one. I would like someone to go to a bit of a big deal for my birthday but at the same time, I feel weird asking for it. (Guess that means I'll get nothing if I don't ask for it LOL)

Not really, since it's on December 28th - after everyone is burned out from Christmas, and before everyone is gearing up for partying on New Years.

In addition, I never many specific *birthday* presents, and instead got a lot of 'Christmas/Birthday' presents and cards - the money's all been spent on Christmas presents for other family, so unlike some answerers here, I certainly don't get 'double presents' or 'double money' (GOD, I *wish*!).

And back in elementary school, since my birthday was on winter break, I never even got one of those little cupcakes or had the class sing happy birthday to me.

I think I've had one real *party* - but only one. Mostly because I had few friends growing up, and most of them were on vacation - out of town visiting relatives during the winter holidays.

Mostly it's been just my parents and I, and a cake.

So I don't really care much about my birthday, and it often comes and goes without much notice from me...though sometimes the cake is yummy.

I don't celebrate because the lack of people to celebrate it with and to me it's just like any other day of the year (not counting holidays) it's not like the whole world get off on it or nothing.

I avoid it by not reminding people it's my birthday after I asked the people close to me not to bother throwing me a party and I don't ask for any specific gift.

I don't celebrate that thing. Besides, I've been the same age for the past 10 yrs. (or rather, I've been telling people the same age) I avoid it by never mentioning it. I've never seen what the big deal is, although I've never looked down on those who DO celebrate it.

Yeah, ofcourse! For the presents, parties, food. I go to tons of parties every yr that are only with friends, but i only ever celebrate MY birthday with my family, it makes it more special, and my birthday is in the summer so we are always in a different country which makes it really cool!

Yes my friends and family celebrate it with me. We usually have one party for the family (which includes buffet style lunch or dinner and a few drinks with ice cream cake and gifts) and then we have another party for the friends (which includes loud music, lots of drinking, gifts, an occasional fist fight between some of the guys, and a food fight with the birthday cake).

Of course I celebrate it. Dinner and cake and icecream with my family. Usually some type of party with my friends. Also, a date with my boyfriend. I love my birthday!
