Drool is a verb. It's still spit, but people use the verb as a noun, simply because if you say, awww look at him spit, it's not as effective. Lots of people associate babies who drool in their sleep to be cute, and saying spit just doesn't sound right anymore.

Plus, I think of spit in verb form as actually taking the time to launch a streamline of saliva somewhere, whereas drool just comes out accidentally.
Don't ask me why I had to sound like an "expert" whilst typing this, I reread it and noticed that I sounded like a complete dork. =)

drool is when u have no control and it falls out ..
like retarted people drool

but when you are being rude and ill-mannered..
then you spit

I think drool is when it unknowingly leaves your mouth and spit is when it is intentional.
