Hey everyone, yesterday my laptop's charger (toshiba) was working just fine untill it suddenly started making weird noise and cutting off, untill it finally stopped working completely. Since i cant live 15 minutes without my laptop as soon as my battery ran out i ran across the house looking for charger's that fit, & my HP Charger fit & my laptop charged normaly. BUT my brother made me unplug it & said this will mess up my laptop. im not sure what he was saying but it has something to do with the info he read off the charger. So the question is: is it safe to use my HP charger on my Toshiba laptop?

Look on the chargers and find; Output
It will give something like 19V 3.16A
You want the voltage to be close maybe the same (Not want to steer you wrong. The A need to be same or more, if the HP is 2A and your Toshiba is 3A the Toshiba may burn out the HP adapter as it draw more amps than the HP supply.
Also look just past the A and you see a - and + Be sure they both in the same place the + may go inside and the - outside.
I used a HP with 19V 3.16A on a Gateway with no problem.

since its not that much of a difference it should be okay. the biggest thing you need to look out for is the connector tip. if the connector tip does not match the original charger and it doesnt plug nicely into the laptop do not use. it you have to either jam it in or if it falls out, that means the connector tip does not match and you should not use it under any circumstances. as always i would suggest you look into a charger that is built specifically for your laptop to reduce the possibility of damage. if the connector tip does not match but it fits if you push it in very hard, no matter the case, do not use the charger! you are risking your chargers life, your laptops life, and most importantly yours. if you need a new charger i would personally suggest you visit topmicrousa as they are very reliable and have yet to disappoint me. if you have any other questions feel free to send me an email and ill do my best to help \(^_^)/
