If you go to a store that sells hunting supplies, they have "deer calls", which are designed to simulate the sound deer make. Of course, these will be for deer like white tail deer - if you are thinking reindeer they will be slightly different (though perhaps similar).

For a white tail deer, they call out when they want others to run away. It sounds like deep cough and a scream at the same time. It's pretty weird. Elk just scream though. <---They sound much cooler!

Deer grunt, rattle, bleat - they have a rather sophisticated set of communicative sounds. Unfortunately, the best source to learn about their "language" is a hunting site that gives details on each sound. Probably too much information but check it out.

the most common noises a deer makes is a snort, it is mainly a quick exhalation of air kinda like a cough, bucks also grunt especially during the rut when they are looking for breeding females, it kinda sounds like a very deep bass voice burping EHHHHHHHHHHH. hope this helped.

well i can tell you from experience, i was in my car we had to stop in a park with deers in, i was being very sick, and sadly i make a lot of noise when I'm sick, one of the deers came up to my open window and started making the same noise as me, i was frightened , but soon saw the funny side of it, i think i was sort of doing a mating call ....it sounds like .. urrrrr,urrrrr, urrrrrr

I get them in my garden all the time, they make a sort of deep burp grunt sound, hard to explain but unmistakeable when heard.
