y=-3x+2
y=2x-8

plug in what y equals in the first equation into the second equation where the y is

-3x+2 = 2x-8
Minus 2 from each side
-3x+= 2x-10
Minus 2x from each side
-5x=-10
x=2

Plug in the x into any of the two equations to get y

y=-3(2) + 2 = -4

Your answer is (2,-4)

Dear sue,

Since y=y, we can set those two equal and find x.

-3x+2=2x-8
2=5x-8
10=5x
x=2

Now plug in x to either equation to get y.

2(2)-8=y
y=-4

Solution is (2,-4)

y=-3x+2
y=2x-8

2x-8=-3x+2
2x+3x-8=-3x+2
5x-8+8=2+8
5x=10
x=2
y=-3(2)+2= -6+4=-2

x=2 y=-2
