I like the Acer Aspire which I've seen for around $500. But really, when it comes to computer systems, you should always put as much money into it as you possibly can because the more you put into it, the longer it takes for it to become outdated. Unless that doesn't matter to you, in which case feel free to go cheap. I find some surprisingly good deals in pawn shops from time to time - if you're vigilant about it and stop in to check out what they got every week or so, you're bound to find an offer too good to pass up sooner or later. It just takes a bit of patience. :-)
And as good as the deals in pawn shops can be, you can often find even better deals on Craigslist. The general public often parts with some pretty sweet equipment and more often than not, they just want to get rid of the thing more so than getting a high price for it, so usually part with it for much less than it's actually worth.

They are the top of the line and you can choose from the less expensive to the more expensive Gaming Computers. It depends on what you are going to be using your computer for.

The words laptop and inexpensive create a wonderful oxymoron.
But, if cheap means around 1000 dollars, get a Macbook.

take care.
