If you're cat isn't aggressive, and if your baby isn't allergic to cats, sure.

But be sure to keep an eye on them. Some cats seem to like attacking babies (http://youtube.com/watch?v=zjFywJrn7WQ )

it's ok as long as you keep an eye on them. every cat is different and some might not like the new member of your household, some others don't care at all. I have a cat and a 6 months old and the cat doesn't really care. especially when the baby cries or screams the cat runs away. just don't let the baby touch the cat or let the cat be to close because the cat is not completely clean. when I was a baby my grandmas cat was always with me and watching me until I grabbed him and ripped out some hair and since then he stayed away from me :)

It sure is! The only thing you would have to worry about would be, the cats nails. You definitely don't want the baby being scratched! How old is the cat? If it's a bit older, I wouldn't worry. If it's younger, they tend to be more playful so you might want to make sure the baby doesn't get scratched. Good luck! The story about the cat getting on top of baby and sucking the air out of it, is a total myth. It was in a scary movie, and everyone started worrying about their cats and babies interacting. :)

Absolutely! I honestly think our cat knew that he had better behave with our babies. LOL We got him when I was pregnant with our first child, when the cat was only 9 weeks old. He was 6 months when our first son was born, and while he would be an asshole to us, he let my son get away with anything! He was the same way when our second was born when he was a little over 2. He loved our kids!

Perfectly safe. I recommend trimming the cat's claws every other week (well, saves your furniture as well).

RARELY, a cat will become aggressive towards a newcomer including a baby and that would be a reason to consider rehoming. Usually they just stay away though.

yes. the cat will be curious about this small being who is very noisy if the house was quiet before. just don't leave the baby and cat alone. the cat will smell the milk on the babies breathe and want to sniff it. that is why the old wives tale of "stealing a babies breath". good luck

Studies suggest that having babies around animals will help their immune systems and prevent allergies to them. This is still being researches because of course, some people are genetically predisposed to having animal allergies, but as long as your baby doesn't show any allergic symptoms and the animals are not laying or crawling on her or her things, it's perfectly safe.

I don't see why not, as long as the cat doesn't bite or scratch the baby. Watch out though because a lot of babies are allergic to cats and develop runny noses, stuffy noses, coughs, or even rashes.

It is, just limit the amount of 'alone' time they have together and watch your cat for signs of jealousy. Teach your child from early on to have respect for the animal and not to get in their face, pull its tail or mess with its food unless your child wants a claw to the face!

Yes it's safe. I've raised two children and have 4 grandchildren and they've all been raised around cats. (And dogs too.)
