Lol... I get those looks also.
I'm into rock myself and my brothers can't stand it... They refuse to ride in my car.

Finally someone who understands how I feel. I live in the same kind of neighborhood and mostly I hear R&B or Hip-hop. Then when I tell people that I like bands like Linkin Park, Green Day, or even Nickelback, they stare at me as if I'm not normal. It's stupid. I blast my rock when I feel like it and play my R&B or Hip-hop whenever I want. It's rare that I can find someone who is black and love rock like I do in Knoxville. I even get looks because I listen to J-Pop(artists like Flow; Kinya Kotani; Orange Range; etc). My thoughts come down to this simple point; it's music; why does it matter that I listen to other types of music. They're my ears; you don't have to hear it, so don't look at me all crazy.

The other day I was in the dentist chair having some work done & I had my mp3 player on. I had the headphones resting around my neck & all you could hear was - SAVE A HORSE, RIDE A COWBOY.
The dentist was tapping his foot & his assistant was humming along. I know the whole time they were thinking - 'I know this Black chic rockin' her Angela Davis 'fro isn't in my office bumping country music.'. *lol* Before I left he told me the song was gonna be in his head for the rest of the day.
(did I mention i like getting inside men's heads??)

Doesn't happen here. I listen to Rock. The area is small, back roads and a lot of Redneck etc, so a lot of stuff gets played.
