You are in your sixth month but you aren't fully 6 months yet. Depending on who you are, the sixth month lasts from 23-28 weeks. When I looked it up in my " What to Expect" book, it's says the 6th month lasts from 23-27 weeks. It is really confusing and when I asked my OB about it, she said that is exactly why they go by weeks! Months are confusing because you can go by calendar months or lunar months ( which are 5 weeks long).

Congrats!

Yes, pregnancy is calcualted in Lunar months. The first day of your period started the first day of 1 month. So exactly 4 weeks from the day your period started, you are 1 month, then at 8 weeks 2 months...........etc. So at 24 weeks you are entering your 7th months, and ARE 6 months pregnant. You are pregnant for 10 lunar months.

Yes! I go by my "What to expect when expecting" book and it says (roughly) 23-27 weeks is your 6th month.

It can be confusing. According to our calender we are pregnant for 9 months, but some months have 5 weeks in them. According to a pregnancy calender you are actually pregnant for 10 months. That's going by 4 weeks in one month. 10 months = 40 weeks.

Not a dumb question! A good one! I get confused also. I'm 22 weeks so I guess I'm rounding out my 5th month?? lol

No. There are more than 4 weeks in a month. 24 weeks is more like 5 and a third months.

In terms of pregnancy, yes.
While in normal terms there are more than 4 weeks in a month, for pregnancy purposes, since it is calculated by weeks, you would be considered 6 months.

Kimberly, before you go running your mouth, get your facts straight. 40 weeks=10 months. They go by date of last menstrual period, not conception. And get an attitude adjustment, too. Your holier than thou attitude is not becoming.
