First off there’s no such thing as an undocumented immigrant, he’s an illegal alien, undocumented immigrant is a PC term to make people feel better about supporting people who break the law.
Well, there is nothing your friend can really do. As far as the government is concerned he doesn’t exist, so there is nobody for them to go after. So a lawyer won’t do any good, I have no doubt she’ll win but how would she collect, for the employer? He would say that he ever saw the illegal alien much less hired him.
Unfortunately for your friend she’s the one who is going to have to raise 4 kids by herself. Her best bet for Christmas is her church, talk to the minister and explain the situation to him or her and let them try and help.
As far as turning him in goes, that would be her best bet, she not going to see a dime anyway. It’s apparent the he doesn’t care about her or his kid, so why should she care if he’s here or back home. At least then she could look for to the state for some help.
But how is it punishing the children to deport him? He’s not much of a father, a drunk drug user who's broke and is breaking the law, yep someone to be proud of. Deport him and tell the kids the truth. Their father broke the law and can’t be with them, just like many other felons.

Deporting him is the best option. He is a criminal on many levels. Illegal immigrant, drug user, and a deadbeat dad. A leopard doesnt change its spots. She will never get any significant level of support from him. Nor are the courts able to enforce anything against him. he doesnt have a job that they can garnish the wages at. All the courts can do is waste time and money or deport him. She made her bed now she gets to lie in it.

To pursue child support, she will likely need an attorney or other court assistance. However, since he's working under the table, the gov't can't garnish his wages.
Now, I do know that US citizens with outstanding child support obligations can't get a passport, so I bet there's a card an attorney could play against an illegal immigrant, likely once he's in ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) custody.
As far as getting gifts, I agree, call your local church or charity.

I think a cap on welfare benefits would be a great idea for all states to follow. No increase in benefits after your first one. Free birth control is also a good idea, although any low income woman can get that at Planned Parenthood. I am disabled and receive SS. I have one child. When he was a minor I got dependent benefits for him. Dependent benefits do not go by how many children you have,it is a set amount depending on the parents check. I would have gotten the same amount of dependent benefits whether I just had him or 10 kids. The same should be done for welfare.

She does it like everyone else does. She either goes to the local child support agency or to a lawyer. They file a petition for child support against him, using whatever identifying information they have for him--his "name", address, last known employment, etc.
The papers are served on him and he is ordered to come to court. He probably won't come and an order is issued against him anyway.
Then, child support services tries to get money out of him. Since he's illegal and under the table, this will be nearly impossible.
I'm sorry for these children, who have a life of hardship ahead of them. Your friend had the terrible judgment to hook up with an alcoholic, drug addicted illegal alien deadbeat and bring not just one, but four children into this world. Good job!
Your friend should return to wherever her own family lives, get a job and start trying to figure out how to raise these children herself, because she cannot count on this man.

This is an expensive case for the state to go after.
If he was a regular wage earner, that is a simple judgment and garnishment.
But factor in illegal status, then working under the table, this is one of those that the state just looks at and shakes their head. They simply do not have the manpower or resources to go after him.
Yes, it is not right and it is not fair. But thats the way it is.
Best you can do it help your friend have a Merry Christmas.
Peace
Jim

Undocumented immigrant - excuse me, you mean criminal illegal alien? Where is that woman's brains getting PG with ONE child, much less 4.
How could one possibly expect to get anything from someone that is not even legally supposed to be here? I do not have the answer to that.
A suggestion would be to contact the Salvation Army and the churches in your friend's area. This is a very charitable time of the year, and they will probably be able to help.

She's not getting anything. Sorry. A lawyer can't solve teh fact he is here illegally; and as soon as you pursue this guy thru the legal system for collection, he's going to be deported.
Suggest to him that if he doesn't start paying, he's going home.

Unfortunately for your friend, you have to pay to play. That's the way of it. Why didn't she think of the repercussions first? She will have to call her local churches and salvation army or someone that is willing to help her out. There is nothing that can be done.
