I hope not. But with things boiling up in the middle east, China becoming more powerful and Russia re-militarising, it's looking more and more likely.
This country needs to stop being America's lap-dog and being dragged in to wars. We need to get the Labour party out of power and elect a strong leadership.
America is on the warpath, and it's Britain that is going to pay the consequences. We can't keep going around, threatening countries like Iran and Syria. The US has a couple of thousand miles of ocean to protect it, we haven't got that luxury.

I think if Iran gets a bomb.... they will most certainly use it through a proxy group like Hamas on Isreal. You will then see a full nuclear retaliation on Iran by Isreal... after all it has an estimated 400++ nuclear missiles at the moment.
I am almost positive this will happen in our lifetimes. The next nuke bomb will not be fired by the US unless it is attacked. No US President wants to be responsible for ending all of Civilization. Not even Bush or Hillary.

No doubt about it but it won't be one of the big super powers. It will be one of these little tin pot nations from either the far or middle east. Someone egotistical lunatic wanting immortal fame will gain power and let one loose. All the population will take to the streets rejoicing and burning the flags of their enemies - for about 5 minutes before the retalliatory strike arrives. We should be conventionally bombing the hell out of their nuclear research facilities and plants now before it is too late. When will the do gooders and bomb banners see that you cannot appease clowns like these. Sort it now or be wiped out.

I damn well hope not but with so many nutters in charge of the nuclear arsenals in many countries in the world it would easy to press the button. I just hope in does not happen in any lifetime.

Maybe not. The people with the ICBMs are more sane and cool headed. It's the ones that want to build atom bombs who are potentially dangerous.

The threat of a nuclear war is usually a good enough deterrent.

I don't think the button will be pushed in our lifetime but I think it could happen accidentally. The Russians have extremely old equipment which is very out-of-date and consequently there's a chance that a mistake could be made and there's no turning back.

Indeed, it could happen even within the next 10 or 11 months. Bush is borderline insane, and could still find an excuse to attack Iran, and that could trigger WW3.

Possibly now Iran has nuclear capability.

This question has been asked every decade since the Fifties. Not happened yet but that does not mean it won't. However, I'm a great believer that Hope springs eternal...meaning that no it won't be pushed.

There are young persons who have not been exposed to that concern, or the political climate that existed during the past Cold War.

They inherit a huge responsibility that they have never had to contemplate before.
